Consumer Privacy and the New Administration
March 24 at 1pm ET
In today’s evolving patchwork of privacy laws, every consumer-facing business is under growing compliance pressures, from California’s general privacy law (CCPA) to state data breach laws and sector-specific laws such as healthcare, finance and education. VP Kamala Harris has a strong record of fighting for consumer privacy as California’s attorney general and in the Senate. This, along with bipartisan support, increases the odds of additional federal privacy laws, as well as beefed-up enforcement from both the FTC and CFPB.
In this session, we’ll cover:
> How federal law may become more stringent to keep up with state privacy law
> What new regs businesses can anticipate, and how they can prepare
> How a Democrat-led Senate may strengthen the FTC’s enforcement powers in regard to advertising regulations
> What will be the affect of a changing relationship between tech giants and the administration?
