The Washington State Senate passed SB 5376
, the Washington Privacy Act (WPA), by a 46-1 vote. The bill now moves to the State’s House of Representatives for consideration. The bill is poised to be perhaps the strictest data privacy law in the United States, mimicking the European Union’s General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR) in many ways.
As PACE General Counsel, Mac Murray & Shuster has previously discussed
, the WPA would provide consumers with access, correction, deletion, objection and transfer rights, among other privacy protections.
PACE will provide our members additional updates as we are able.
